Are your contact names less than 10 characters long?
A number of our users have been repeatedly asking us to provide sender name instead of mobile number when displaying the message from 160by2 on your mobile phone. We are pleased to roll out this feature now.
Now if you send a message from 160by2.com to your friend and if she has saved you in her contacts at 160by2, we will display your name (as saved by her) instead of your mobile number. Let me make it a bit more clear with an example -
Rahul and Pooja are both 160by2 users and have added each other in their 160by2.com contacts. When Rahul sends an SMS to Pooja, it will show up on Pooja’s mobile as – Rahul: <message> instead of 9866854545: <message>.
Q – What if I have saved a contact name that is more than 10 characters?
A – In that case only first 10 characters of contact name will identify the sender. So a contact called “Rahul College” will be displayed as “Rahul Coll”
160by2 Tip: It is useful to save all your contacts with names less than 10 characters long!
Q- What if the receiver is not a 160by2 member?
A- In that case the sender’s mobile number will identify the sender as it is being done now.
160by2 Tip: Get all your contacts to register on 160by2.com for easy identification
Q- What if my different friends save my number with different nick names?
A- Each friend will receive your message in the name of nick name he/she has used to save your number. So it’s your friend who decides how he/she wants to see your name to be displayed like. This is exactly how we save it on our mobiles, isn’t it?
